Meet Our Staff

Dr. Mercado is a board certified physician in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of the Philippines where she majored in Biological Sciences and completed her Medical degree at the University of the City of Manila. She came to the United States to pursue her Pediatric Residency training at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn New York, where she received recognition as the Best Resident in Pediatrics during her internship year. She completed her Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Her publications include “Extended Interval Dosing Of Gentamicin in Preterm Neonates” published in the American Journal of Perinatology in 2004 and “Early Markers of Late Onset Sepsis in Premature Neonates: Clinical, Hematological and Cytokine Profile” published in the Journal of Perinatal Medicine in 2003. Dr Mercado has been in practice as a neonatologist for 22 years and joined Central Ohio Newborn Medicine in 2021.

Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Dr Mercado migrated to the United States of America in 1992 and is fluent in Tagalog and English. Her motto in life, the latin phrase “Maxima minima facere” which translates to “doing small things in an extraordinary way,” has been instilled in her by her parents as a young child. This is what she strives to do everyday and especially in the care of her patients and their families. In her spare time, Dr Mercado enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and her 2 dogs, a smooth haired mini dachshund named Peanut and a mixed breed named Patches.
