Meet Angela Firestine, MD
from Central Ohio Newborn Medicine
Born and raised in Kentucky, Dr. Angela Firestine attended medical school at the University of Louisville. She moved to Norfolk, Virginia for her residency at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, and then relocated to Central Ohio for her neonatology fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. With family still living in Kentucky, she now says that she “left the ocean to be closer to home.”
Dr. Firestine joined Central Ohio Newborn Medicine because of the practice’s reputation as family-oriented and focused on patient care. “I want to help parents feel more comfortable about taking their baby home,” she says. “The more they can be involved from the get-go, the easier the transition will be.”
Dr. Firestine was always passionate about pediatrics and chose to pursue neonatology after experiencing neonatology rotations during her residency. It was her husband, Marc, who pointed out how happy she was during those rotations.
Dr. Firestine and her husband recently purchased a house in Upper Arlington, and they are busy learning about home improvement. After living in Lexington and Louisville, Dr. Firestine is accustomed to big college towns and has enjoyed getting acquainted with Columbus. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, baking and playing with her dog, Cooper.
